At Camp ELSO we are committed to diversity. We strongly encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds for all of our camp positions. By supporting our campers interests in exploring science careers, and increasing the visibility of people of color as Camp Guides, we hope to not only debunk stereotypes of traditional STEM learners but positively affirm the self-identity of black and brown children.
Paid Training and a Competitive Wage
All of our Camp Guides and seasonal staff participate in a required training retreat where we develop leadership skills, write and review lesson plans, practice group management, engage in cultural and historical learning and go on our own outdoor experiences.
Safety and Security is Our First Priority
We work hard to create a safe space for campers to be free to Experience Life Science Outdoors! To become a Camp ELSO year round or seasonal staff member or volunteer, you must undergo a background check, verification of references, and mandatory training.
We Seek Out Strategic Partnerships
We are always seeking to form dynamic partnerships that will benefit our community and the youth we serve. Camp ELSO seeks to build a mutually beneficial network of like-minded community partners who also work with underserved communities.
